Snake and Skull pattern

Snake and Skull pattern

One night I had a dream, I was a main character in the movie Raiders of the lost Ark and I was in the snake pit trying to get out. A new idea for a blanket was born.
I am fascinated by snakes, and in some cultures they are the symbol for being reborn. To make the pattern complete, I added a skull and now it symbolises the circle of life (death and birth).
I realise this design is not everybody’s cup of tea, but I had to make it.

The pattern comes in two techniques: Overlay mosaic crochet and Interlocking filet crochet. Both techniques have a written pattern and charts. The mosaic pattern has extra large printable X charts and small charts to work on a tablet.

Overlay mosaic: Based on hook 3 mm, US D (lap throw) Pattern colour A dark 2000 meters, 2200 yards Light background colour B, total 1800 meters, 1850 yards Keep in mind when you change your hook size or yarn thickness the blanket needs more or less yarn Size 105 by 145 cm, 41 by 57 inches, variations happens due to yarn thickness, tension and hook size 231 stitches by 313 rows

Interlocking filet: Based on hook 3 mm, US D (lap throw) Pattern colour A dark 1600 meters, 1750 yards Light background colour B, total 1600 meters, 1750 yards Keep in mind when you change your hook size or yarn thickness the blanket needs more or less yarn Size 105 by 150 cm, 50 by 59 inches, variations happens due to yarn thickness, tension and hook size 115 by 155 windows
