Roman Mosaic Square pattern

by AdO Crochet Designs

Roman Mosaic Square pattern

Roman is a square throw, tablecloth in overlay mosaic crochet done in the round (starting from the centre to out) so there is no need to cut your yarn for this technique.

The pattern is based on mosaic tiles found in the Mediterranean Sea in Turkey. I used colourful yarn reminding me of the Mediterranean, which gave it a super special effect.

Yarn: teal (or any other dark colour) total 1500 meters, 1600 yards

Lighter or any contrasting colour 1650 meters, 1750 yards

Size 120 by 120 cm , 48 by 48 inches (fingering weight, hook 2,75 mm, USA C-2). 140 rounds (to compare to row to row overlay mosaic crochet 281 by 281 stitches)

Keep in mind when you change your hook size or yarn thickness your work needs more or less yarn

The pattern comes with written text, a free tutorial on how to do overlay mosaic crochet from the centre out, a small X chart and a large X chart
